Welcome to Hay Hub, where we celebrate the diversity and character of French meadow hay. As with wine, each region transmits its own signature to the hay. The soil, the water, the climate, and the expertise of local producers all combine to create a forage with a distinct flavor, aroma, and nutritional profile. Hay Hub is proud to offer Meadow Hay selected from various terroirs across France that are known for their reputation in fattening cattle and supporting milk production.
One exceptional example is the hay of Val de Sarthe. The banks of the Sarthe springs have never been plowed because they are flooded each winter. This annual immersion brings fresh silts that naturally enrich the soil. When spring arrives, the herbage is rich and nutritious. The elders of the region would park their oxen there to finish fattening without any additional feed. That same natural fertility is preserved in every bale of Val de Sarthe hay available at Hay Hub.
Another distinguished terroir is Val de Meuse. This hay grows in the plains bordering the Meuse River, the same region that gives us the famous waters of VITTEL and CONTREX. The unique mineral composition of the soil and water imparts its own values to the hay, making it a sought after choice for discerning horse and livestock owners.
At Hay Hub, we only offer Meadow Hay that meets strict quality criteria. Doulière Hay France’s automatic line process tolerates only certain formats and a defined quality of fodder. This is a very special selection from producers who meet our exacting standards. Due to climatic hazards, the harvests of these terroir hays do not always guarantee the quality required to apply the process from one year to the next. Availability varies, and these hays are inherently rare. Their scarcity, however, makes them deeply appreciated by those who understand the value of authentic terroir hay.
Nutritionally, Meadow Hay from Hay Hub delivers 12 to 16 percent protein and 0.60 UF to 0.85 UF, making it a versatile and valuable forage for a range of animals.
All Meadow Hay at Hay Hub is packaged in CHC bales, which stand for Calibrated High Compression bales. These bales offer consistent quality, easy handling, and precise portion control. Compression removes air from the bale, reducing oxidation and preserving nutrients. Compacted slices encourage animals to take more bites and produce more salivation, supporting slower and healthier digestion. CHC bales are calibrated, compressed, palletized, and filmed. They are bound using polyane string and delivered on pallets of 24 to 48 bales.
Quality control is rigorous at every stage. From production to storage, hygrometric controls are practiced. Any lot that does not meet quality criteria is listed and downgraded. A sample is taken from each batch and analyzed by a certified laboratory. This guarantees the accuracy of your rations and gives you complete confidence in every bale of Meadow Hay you buy from Hay Hub.
The advantages of CHC bales are clear. You save up to half your storage space. Handling is easy thanks to the small size. Nutrient preservation is guaranteed because compression reduces hay oxidation. Assimilation improves because compacted slices require more bites and more salivation. Your animals also regain a feeling of grazing, which reduces boredom and supports natural behavior.
For a 450 kg horse, Hay Hub recommends approximately 8 kg of terroir hay per day in two meals with a complement, or 12 kg per day if feeding 100 percent hay. For cattle, sheep, and goats, 2 to 3 kg per day split into two meals is ideal. Whether you run a stable, a dairy farm, or a smallholding, Meadow Hay from Hay Hub delivers the authentic taste of French terroir.
